Last.fm Integration

Last.fm is a popular service that lets you keep a record of what you listen to from AtomicPlayer. Based on your taste, Last.fm recommends you more music and concerts. You can share (or hide) your listening history with other users and find out about new music that you might like.

The process of sending your listening history to Last.fm is called scrobbling. AtomicPlayer's scrobbler is quick and easy to set up. Here's how it works:

Setup

  • From AtomicPlayer, on the Internet menu, choose Last.fm Scrobbling....
  • Click the Authorize button. You will then have a web browser opened for you where you can create an account with Last.fm. (This is free.) After this, you will see a selection to authorize AtomicPlayer. Click this button and then return to AtomicPlayer.
  • Confirm that you have authorized AtomicPlayer by clicking OK and the process will complete. (If there are any problems you can leave the Scrobble to Last.fm checkbox checked and AtomicPlayer will keep track of your history and send it later after you are able to sucessfully authorize.)

That's it -- you are now set up to scrobble!

Scrobbling

If you have scrobbling turned on, each time you play a track from your library the information will be sent to Last.fm. You can go to the Last.fm site and see the results a few seconds after each event.

When you first start a song, it will be sent as your "Now Playing" selection. After you play the song for a while the scrobble will be saved. (This is after the earlier of four minutes or halfway through the song. Also, only tracks longer than 30 seconds will be scrobbled.)

If you are disconnected from the internet, your history will be retained and uploaded later when you are connected.

If you want to temporarily stop scrobbling, uncheck the Scrobble to Last.fm checkbox. To permanently disable AtomicPlayer from scrobbling, you can de-authorize it on the last.fm website.
