Windows Audio Session (WASAPI) Support

WASAPI is a technical audio standard that allows applications like AtomicPlayer to communicate directly with your sound card hardware. This is often used in professional-grade applications which require extreme fidelity, and it enables high-resolution (32-bit) audio bit depth for incredible realism.

WASAPI uses two modes, each of which is supported in AtomicPlayer: Exclusive Mode means that sound is sent directly to your sound hardware, and bypasses any extra processing from the Windows mixer. When exclusive mode is used no other program may use that sound device. Shared Mode allows multiple programs to send sound. If you prefer exclusive mode, make sure the Use exclusive mode if available checkbox is selected on the Options dialog.

For optimal sound quality, AtomicPlayer recommends using Exclusive Mode.
